What You’ll Do
This role will support the 2D graphics development within the Global Visual Merchandising team, reporting to the Senior Art Director – Brand 2D. Our team is focused on translating new product launches and creative campaigns into physical spaces and customer experiences, as well as directing the evolution of seasonal graphics and evergreen design systems within the brand’s global retail environment, and cascading direction to regional teams for execution.
The Art Director – Global 2D VM (temp – perm) will be responsible for a mix of creative graphic design, evolving and updating design systems, development of guidelines defining creative direction and design of associated documents, and print production. We are a tight-knit, highly capable and well-respected team, working in a fast paced and sometimes high volume environment. We value collaboration and collegiality as much as intelligence and skill. A can-do attitude is a must!
What You’ll Be Working On
- Contribute to the development of Visual Merchandising graphic work that is aligned with our forward-thinking brand goals and consistently elevates our in-store presence
- Partner with the SAD and Global 3D VM team to ensure that fixture and environmental 2D graphics are on-brand, communicate clearly and look great
- In partnership with the SAD, support the development of Global 2D VM guidelines, identifying and communicating design direction, usage case directives, execution and production standards and expectations, as well as designing the guidelines documents to brand standards
- In partnership with the SAD, support graphic development for events and dedicated animation spaces and create directives for global implementation
- Contribute to creative and visual development as the brand continues its evolution
- Turn around layouts and other assets quickly and efficiently, with keen attention to detail and quality of execution
- Organize and prepare 2D VM design files for final release to regional partners
Must Haves
- Minimum 3 years experience working in a VM 2D design or related creative role (mid to senior level designers will be considered)
- Beauty background strongly preferred, particularly prestige/luxury
- Degree preferred (BA/BFA degree in Graphic Design or Environmental Design) or commensurate work experience in 2D design for visual merchandising, visual display, experience design, or related areas
- Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Strong portfolio, strong print design and print production background, particularly in large formats
- Strong understanding of composition and layout principles and messaging hierarchies
- Strong understanding of branding and graphic storytelling within the retail environment
- Understanding of 3D dimensional structures and spaces, and how 2D graphics relate to 3D fixtures, environments and executions
- Understanding of retailer and vendor specifications, technical drawings and planograms
- Understanding of design systems and able to articulate the nuances of design systems through explanatory guidelines
- High taste level with a sharp eye for detail and quality execution
- Flexible, nimble and comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes high-volume environment
- Able to gracefully receive feedback from creative team as well as multiple cross-functional partners, interpret it and apply it to the work
- Strong time management skills, able to juggle multiple projects and priorities, manage project timelines (with help from team PM) and meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely
- Awareness of current visual, industry and cultural trends
- Passionate and engaged in the work and industry
- Comfortable working in MS Office/Teams/Zoom/Asana
- Comfortable remotely working, communicating and presenting
- Willing and able to work out of the Midtown Manhattan NYC office as needed
- Experience with 3D software (Rhino, Keyshot, SketchUp) a plus but not required
- Experience with image retouching a plus but not required

- What You’ll Do
- As the Vice President, Global Product Marketing, Promotion and Merchandise + Special Projects, you will own the global promotions and gifting business category end-to-end, from strategy through execution. This is a highly visible, critical leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering the promotional and gifting roadmap that fuels consumer acquisition, loyalty, and incremental growth. You will set the vision, lead the strategy, and inspire the team to craft best-in-class programs that redefine how beauty promotions and gifting drive engagement in the prestige category.
- You will be accountable for bringing bold, creative, and commercially powerful promo and gifting concepts to life—from holiday programs to limited-edition sets, sampling, merchandise, and gift-with-purchase. Above all, you will ensure Sol de Janeiro’s gifting strategy is not just competitive, but industry-leading.
- This role reports to the SVP, Global Product Marketing and leads a team of 3.
- What You’ll Be Working On
- Promotional Strategy and Execution:
- Lead the development and execution of promotional strategies and initiatives, including holiday, limited edition sets, sampling programs and gift with purchase promotions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to create compelling promotional offers and activations that drive consumer acquisition and sales and that are aligned with retailer specific strategies.
- Monitor and analyze promotional performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to optimize promotional effectiveness.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless execution of promotional initiatives, including execution of program development, creative briefs, campaign needs, and promotional messaging.
- Develop and execute strategic merchandise plans for the global brand for all merch items including saleable merch and launch support merch and influencer mailers, ensuring alignment with brand vision, consumer preferences, and market demands.
- Collaborate with procurement, external partners, agencies and vendors to explore new merchandise innovation opportunities, including product design, costing, and coordination for execution.
- In partnership with Global Consumer Engagement, spearhead collaborations with fashion, creative, and entertainment entities to design and launch trendsetting limited-edition products that captivate our global audience.
- Collaborate with internal teams to assess merch needs and new opportunities.
- Utilize consumer insights, market trends, and competitive analysis to inform assortment decisions and identify growth opportunities within the category.
- You will be responsible for special projects such as sampling, visual merchandising, line edit.
- Lead and develop team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, facilitating their professional growth and development within the organization.
- Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field required; MBA preferred.
- 12-15 years of experience in promotions, merchandise planning, or related roles within the beauty or consumer goods industry. Experience in fashion a plus.
- Proven track record of success in developing and executing strategic promotional, gifting and merchandise initiatives to drive sales and profitability.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage consumer insights and market data to inform decision-making and drive results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Must be comfortable working a hybrid schedule (3 days in our New York office per week).
